MEET OUR BOARD

Kiran Malli

President

Kiran Malli has been working as an advocate for equity, inclusion and anti-racism for over 20 years. Born on the traditional and stolen territories of the Katzie First Nations, a child of immigrant parents, she is a second generation settler. Kiran has been involved in the non-profit and health care sector since the 1990s in roles that promote equity, access and ant-racism. She has been involved in many boards including Critical Link International and the West Coast Coaliton of Human Diginity. Kiran is also sits as an expert member of the ISO TC37/SC5. Currently, she is the director of Provincial Language Services, a program of PHSA. As a founding member of the Seva Thrift Store Society, Kiran has been involved since 2016 and is currently serving as the president of the Seva Thrift Foundation board of directors.

Anita Lal

Vice President

Anita Lal, a fourth-generation settler, was born and raised on the ancestral lands of Lhtako Dene. As the Co-founder and Director of the Poetic Justice Foundation, her approach is always inclusive, intersectional and critical; she draws attention to biases, inequalities and oppressive systems of casteism, racism and discrimination. Anita also serves on Boards and Advisory Committees for Women Transforming Cities, Arts BC, the Province of BC’s Punjabi Canadian Legacy Project, and the South Asian Studies Institute at The University of the Fraser Valley. She is the Director of Operations and Programming at Moving Forward Family Services and does consulting work for the Royal Academy of Punjab. She is inspired by Dr. Ambedkar’s words: Educate. Agitate. Organize.

Parbinder Narman

Treasurer

Parbinder Narman is a Chatered Professional Accountant. She has been in Public Practice for more than 20 years assisting her clients with all of their accounting and financial needs. Parbinder’s belief is that every small action can create a ripple effect of positive change.

Kuldeep Mann

Secretary

Kuldeep Mann, a dedicated Surrey resident of 30 years, is dedicated to creating positive change and giving back to her community. With a commitment to volunteerism spanning over two decades, Kuldeep has actively contributed to various organizations since 2000. In 2016, Kuldeep joined Seva at its beginning and has served on the Board as Secretary, finding a sense of purpose and connection with like-minded individuals who share her values.

Raj Arneja

Member at Large

Raj Arneja is the Director of Corporate Engagement & Philanthropy at Nanak Foods. Raj works hard at building relationships within the community through her work at Nanak Foods. She directs the company's philanthropy including strategy, programming and partnership development, and day-to- day operation of all corporate contributions. Raj is also a recipe creator for Nanak Foods social media channels. Raj is one of the founding members of the Seva Thrift Society which runs a charitable thrift store since 2016. Along with Board duties, she is a regular volunteer manager at the store. Raj also serves on the ISAFF Advisory Board, is a former VIBC Board member, has volunteered her time at the Front Room homeless shelter, supported two girls’ orphanages in Punjab and has travelled to Kenya to volunteer in small village schools with her 2 children. Raj is an author who has written a memoir titled “Love at First Sight”; A Mother’s Journey to Adoption.

Gail Bains

Member at Large

Gail Bains has been a dedicated board member at large with Seva Thrift since 2017. With a long-standing commitment to charitable work, she has been involved with organizations like RSCL, IODE, Silvia's Think Tank, and has dedicated 17 years to fundraising for the Richmond Society for Community Living since 1998. Passionate about making a difference and giving back to the community, Gail brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her role. Professionally, she is a realtor and continues to contribute her expertise as a member at large on the Seva Thrift Society Board of Directors.

Inderjit Randhawa

General Manager

Inder Randhawa has been a dedicated volunteer at Seva Thrift since its inception in July 2016. As the General Manager of the store, she oversees daily operations, ensuring seamless execution and efficiency. Driven by a passion for sustainability and community service, Inder is committed to reducing waste, promoting reuse and recycling, and creating a better future for generations to come, while also giving back to the community.
